Casalvento

The design is based on the connection between new and old, which is the primary concept generator. The challenge is in incorporating the structure and its proportions to the existing casalvento residence in a harmonious way. The scope is to have a functional lightweight greenhouse constructed either in wood or steel as primary structural element and cladded in glass. Further the new solution incorporates a terracotta pergola which acts as a shading device. The application of this material in this context helps ‘sew’ this extension to the existing house. Design focuses on keeping the intervention as transparent as possible, in order to function with the seasons.
